What exactly is an Octadecagon?  At Lothlorien Woods our "Yurt" is an 18-sided, custom-built and exquisitely appointed wilderness cabin unlike any other.  Over two years in construction, Roy Conant, allowed the spirit of the "Yurt" and the materials incorporated therein to guide the realization of a sweet, peaceful, and relaxing accessible wilderness respite,    Accessible from inside the "Yurt" is a bathroom with a roll-in shower with seat and other facilities with transfer provisions.

Largely constructed from materials lovingly and gently harvested on-site, the Yurt at Rivendell is a sanctuary of peace and serenity, a place for rejuvenation and inspiration.  Step back in time to a stress-free existence while the sun, the moon and the stars wink at you through the gentle undulations of the 100 year-old Douglas Firs Trees and the "Dome" of the Yurt itself.  Relish the radiance of tranquility in your sojourn to heartsease and inspiration.

Privacy abounds in this Awesome Cabin, situated all by itself in the midst of forest and meadow, of breathtaking beauty and sumptuous simplicity with wild life all around.  One can normally expect to see deer, wild turkeys, squirrels (especially those scampering across the roof, deck and trees adjacent) and sometimes bear, bobcat, cougar, and elk -- Along with native birds, plants, and butterflies in season!

Relax in your very own teakwood hot tub on a private deck overlooking the wonders of nature.  Be at peace with life and nature in our pastoral cabin while being just a short distance from the wondrous Columbia River Gorge, it's world-renowned spectacular scenery and waterfalls, and the bucolic villages which line its shores.  From Spring through Autumn, the Wild and Scenic White Salmon and Klickitat Rivers, just few miles away, offer White Water Rafting, Kayaking, Canoeing, Fishing, Swimming, and other water sports

The Yurt at Rivendell is "Glamping" at its finest, proffering essential amenities of the built world in a completely natural and stunningly beautiful environment.  Whatever the season (Our Respite at Rivendell is available year-round) you are bound to be enthralled by the natural spectacle of nature and the opportunities therein to animate, energize, and satiate your entire being -- body, spirit, and soul!

This is just what the doctor ordered. With a young child with underlying conditions, we have been holed up since March. This yurt was the perfect place for a 2 day escape. Ron and Rebecca showed us extra kindness and care to make us feel comfortable about stepping outside of our bubble. The place was a clean and relaxing place to come back to after days of fishing and birding. The full kitchen, gorgeous back deck, large grill, and beautiful cedar hot tub made for a perfect getaway.

Hey Erin -- Roy here. Totally awesome that you enjoyed yourselves and that it worked out for your family, and especially your children. And the bird pictures were an incredibly sweet treat! We're going to frame them and display them in the Yurt for future guests to appreciate. Totally hope to be able to host you and your wonderful family again!

Lovely Social Distancing Trip

My partner, dog and I had a great time in the yurt! I moved here recently from Louisiana and the rural property reminded me of summers at my grandfather’s farm. Being “off the grid” really made it that more relaxing. We also enjoyed the stereo with CD’s to pick through, there were two of Cajun and zydeco music that made me feel right at home! We enjoyed grilling some Cajun rubbed chicken on the porch, while our dog—Willie Nelson, watched squirrels and got some much needed fresh air. I loved relaxing in the hot tub in the evenings and even got to watch a deer graze while soaking. It was a therapeutic and much needed get-away especially in these stressful times! I can’t wait to come back and hopefully bring family and friends. - love Nick, Zoe, and Willie!

Hey Zoe! Roy here. Ah, yes!! Zydeco and Cajun music -- I have a few stories to tell about hanging out at the now-demised Rocking Bowl and Tipitinas (outside the French Quarter) for Sunday Fo De Do! So hope you'll be able to return and spread the word. NOTE: As a returning guest, you will be eligible for a returning guest discount -- Be sure to let us know you have visited before (Normally, we remember but sometimes the synapses... ;-)) Be Well and Be Safe! Just some friends unplugged and together.

We had a wonderfully amazing ladies vacation. My friend flew up from California and we needed some sisterly best friend unplugged time. We both talked about bringing our husbands sometime for a lovely just him and I time. We enjoyed the walking down old roads and being away. We loved the kitchen so we were able to bring groceries up and not have to drive each day. Mark the caretaker did a great job of taking care of what we needed and just leaving us be. We plan to be back.

Very relaxing

Our stay was amazing! The Yurt is very cozy and we slept very well. The wooden hot tub was a very nice addition. We met the a very sweet dog that wanders around the property, he’s a bit old but very nice if you get a chance to meet him. I would definitely recommend this place and I fully intend to come back again in the future.

Lovely Place away from it all, Cedar Hot Tub is amazing

Really lovely yurt tucked away in a semi-forested semi-cleared landscape about 13 miles outside of White Salmon. We love to cook and were able to make some really good meals in the fully equipped kitchen. Quiet, relaxing, and a really easy get away from Portland. The double bed is a bit small and too firm for our taste, but still slept really well out there! I would recommend bringing an extra blanket and pillows if you are particular sleepers like my wife and I.

Hi Drew -- So happy you were able to enjoy a respite in our "Yurt/Chateau!" Space constraints and the desire to create as much usable space (e.g. for yoga) in the great room resulted in our choice of antique Murphy Beds. Mattress firmness is such a personal choice, it's almost impossible to find the one the suits every body. The other Murphy bed has a much softer mattress, but with the consequence that bodies tend lean in to each other -- Of course, that's not necessarily a negative... :-) We'd love to host you again - when you do return, please let us know so we can extend a returning guest courtesy discount! All the best! R Conant

Lovely getaway

My partner and I loved staying in this yurt! It was magically snowy on the property, and the drive in was a little dodgy, but we were so happy to arrive. The yurt was immaculate and cozy. We loved sitting out on the patio looking out at the forest. It was great to be out of cell and internet range for the weekend, cooking food and reading. Mark was very accommodating.

Hi Alexis! Thank you so much for your kind words. We hope to be able to host you and your partner again -- When you do return, please be sure to let us know you are a returning guest so we can extend a "Returning Guest" discount for you! Also, if you have time, it would be great if you could post your review to Google Business and Yelp. Those kinds of reviews help small folks a lot! Have an Awesome Day!

Just the place for relaxing

Taking a couple of days to relax at the Yurt at Rivendell was my Christmas gift to my husband. We live locally and wanted to focus on rest and relaxation and not have to travel far to do it, and this was perfect for that. The yurt is in a beautiful setting, and because of recent snowfall there was a special sereneness. We enjoyed a break from phone service (no wifi/internet coverage) and played games, sat in front of the warm gas stove, read, cooked together in the well-equipped kitchen area, and of course soaked in the beautiful hot tub on the deck. The yurt structure gave us much to look at with the blue pine walls and rustic Murphy bed framing, and my favorite part is the deep red ceiling. It all went too quickly and we both want to go back! There is a little stereo there and I wish we'd brought our own CDs to listen to. It's also stocked with 3 or 4 games and 2 or 3 books, in case anyone is interested to know.

Hi Cindy! Thank you so much for your kind words. We hope to be able to host you and your partner again -- When you do return, please be sure to let us know you are a returning guest and local so we can extend our "Local" guest discount for you! Also, if you have time, it would be great if you could post your review to Google Business and Yelp. Those kinds of reviews help small folks a lot! Have an Awesome Day! Roy

The yurt is beautiful. We spent four sun filled days of autumn enjoying that soaking tub, soaking in the silence, preparing ourselves good meals in the very well appointed kitchen and just escaping the noise of civilization. Mark is a great caretaker. The place is spotlessly clean and he was friendly and welcoming, while also giving us our privacy. Rebecca made booking a breeze and even helped me correct an error made on-line which might have had some negative consequences. It is very close to being ADA accessible, too, which is a wonderful thing for friends, family and acquaintances who use chairs or have mobility issues. We ended up using both of the beds after the first night because we are sprawlers and old fashioned double beds are a bit more confining than they seemed to be in our youth. Turn off the electrical and propane appliances at bedtime and you will have a perfectly quiet sleep. Good people, good music hidden in the top drawer for your use, good energy. Enjoy!

Perfect cozy weekend

My sweety and I stayed at the Yurt in late September. We had a wonderful relaxed weekend and could not recommend the facility and customer service more highly. The yurt is absolutely gorgeous! Natural wood walls and countertops, full kitchen, grill, and handicap accessible bathroom/shower. Our favorite parts were the fireplace and private hot tub! This is the perfect weekend romantic getaway cabin. You are guaranteed privacy, however it's only a 15 minute drive through beautiful countryside to get to the main town for groceries and window shopping. The manager was incredibly friendly, personable, and flexible with email correspondence. We had to reschedule due to a medical injury. The groundskeeper was also excellent in ensuring all our needs were met and everything was perfect. Bear in mind there is no wifi or cell phone reception. We consider this a bonus in getting away from it all and having uninterrupted time together. Book it now or you'll be missing out!

Peaceful surroundings enjoyed from Hot Tub

The hot tub is the best feature! It’s a beautiful, wooden tub that is located on the back porch where you can look out to the meadow and surrounding trees. My friends and I stayed here after a day whitewater rafting on the White Salmon river. We were thankful to be relaxing in these quiet woods, in this obviously handcrafted yurt, and soaking in this hot tub. We saw a little buck within minutes of arriving. The birdsongs in the morning were so nice while we drank our coffee. The yurt was clean and well equipped for a proper long stay. The beds were comfy. My dog was welcomed at the property as well, which is always noteworthy to me.
